In 1995 the Society amended its constitution to establish a new class of membership, that of Fellow of the Society (FBMIS). Fellowship may be applied for by members and non-members, and where awarded will indicate educational background and practical experience expected of a competent medical or health informatics professional. Fellowship subscription rates will be £50 per annum. Application carries a £20 handling fee to cover costs, which is not returnable.
